What's a pink slip?
The NSW safety inspection your rego needs
Most NSW light vehicles over 5 years old need a safety inspection report — the pink slip — before you can renew registration.
It also covers trailers and caravans with an aggregate trailer mass of 4.5 tonnes or less (excluding vehicles with air or vacuum brakes).
Once passed, your pink slip is valid for 6 months.

How long is a pink slip valid for?
Once your vehicle passes, the pink slip safety inspection report is valid for 6 months.
Do you do mobile pink slips?
Yes — we offer mobile pink slip inspections for caravans, trailers and boat trailers at a flat $150, which includes call out and inspection fees.
What surface do you need for a mobile inspection?
We need a hard, flat surface and clear vehicle access for our service vehicle. If the vehicle needs to be towed or moved to a preferred site, that's an additional cost.
What if my vehicle fails the inspection?
Any repairs needed to pass are quoted separately at the time of inspection — there's no pressure and no hidden fees.
